Stop This Train...

Stop this train
I wanna get off and go home again
I can't take the speed it's moving in
I know I can't
But honestly
Won't someone stop this train?

I. Freaking. Love. This. Song.

Its lyrics are amazing. I don't know why but I just like songs that have indirect meaning to it. You know, the ones that you have to find out about. Not like those stupid songs like "YOU BELONG WITH MEEEEEEE.."

No. Just no. I don't like Taylor Swift that much, I'm sorry. Not because I hate her, it's because I hate how every song she writes is about the same damn thing. That's not called creativity...

But anyway, back to the point..

'Stop This Train' by John Mayer is one of my favorites right about now, mainly because it's about the difficult phase between youth and adulthood. The part that hit me was the chorus. Everything pieced together. From what I've learned from literature about symbolism and crap, I'm guessing this 'train' that keeps being brought up is the symbol of life.

I can't take the speed it's moving in

Life flashes before your eyes.. I mean, dude it's almost the end of January. Then it'll be February. Then March. Then April. Then so on.

And this line

I wanna get off and go home again

I'm guessing 'home' is a symbol of youth. I might not be right, but you know.. "homey feeling," "there's no place like home.." When you leave home..

It's a jungle out there.

And one last line that really made me scream "I F---KING LOVE THIS SONG" was

So scared of getting older
I'm only good at being young

Totally explains how I feel right now.

I would have no trouble finding symbols in this song for a literature class. If I ever would be a literature teacher.. I would occasionally give students song lyrics to dissect. That would be so fun. hahahaha.

Don't stop this train
Don't for a minute change the place you're in
Don't think that I couldn't ever understand
I tried my hand
John, honestly
we'll never stop this train. ♥

This was a very random post with no meaning to it, but I just love this song. :)

This was a blog I wrote on from 2010-2016. Keeping it for posterity. Hi, I'm an 18-year-old human, happened to be named Karen, who thinks a day of YouTube watching, gaming, forum reading, and blog writing is a day well spent. I use this thing to talk about stuff.
